It has been recently concluded in Tuscany, near Grosseto, La Cesenate's acquisition of a new property large about 160 hectares. The cultivations are now in a breeding stage and consist mainly of pear-trees and apricot-trees. They are to be destined to wholly organic semimanufactured products for children's nutrition over 3-5 years. Choice and destination of this property are the result of the Company's search for the best agricultural varieties and lands. Here there are optimal soil characteristics and the cultivations are safe. Moreover, until some varieties of pear-trees resistant to fire blight - an ill-famed bacterium in Italy and abroad - will be found, Tuscany seems not to be subject to the diffusion of this illness. In this property - as in the other properties of La Cesenate - studies are carried on about the cultivars that are nearest to the high quality standards of the Company: in this way some varieties of apricots have been found, characterized by a low acidity content, a good colour and high brix levels, including the essential elements for children nutrition and assuring a cultivation with a low environmental impact.
